Turning Your Talents into a G-Business

Think back to what you were doing many years ago. My past work experience includes working for a County Government , an Administrative Asst. for a VP (which I thought at the time was such a “big deal”…I must have been delusional). Then I decided to take my job much closer to home and found a job that I absolutely loved….an assistant to a financial planner. I was “So Happy”. I learned that I loved helping families develop their live-long financial goals, watching their dreams grow even larger as goals were met, watching their children grown—and multiply. I was in my glory. In addition, along with all of this I managed to start my own Home-Based business and join the top 2% of the Company.

What I did not know was that this was the beginning of REALLY starting my own business and it can be for you too. You never know why things are happening when they are happening but I Guarantee you that they are happening for a reason.

Have you ever dreamed of being your own boss? Of course, you will be the best boss that you will ever have! Holding the title of CEO? Having a staff? You can have it all. The talents that you are developing now, wherever you are in your life will help you develop the skills that you need to begin your own G-Business. After all, you are a multitasked person. Every woman that I know can do at least 2 or 3 things at one time, (if not more). I have always prided myself on being able to get laundry, dishes, vacuuming, lunches made, kids out the door to school, myself ready and out the door prior to 6:30 a.m.! (I know that I may not be the “norm”, however, there are a lot of women who perform like this day after day after day. In addition, guess what! It gets old after a while.)

One of my most important responsibilities while I worked with a financial planner was the follow-up with clients. Owning a G-Business, it will be no different. Remember…..follow-up, follow-up, follow-up. Now, I do make judgments on other businesses when they do not follow-up with me to see if I had a good experience with their products, am a happy customer or to see if I received the delivery in one piece. Granted, this does not happen in a lot of “corporate” America . However, as the owner of your own G-Business you will be able to either take 10 minutes a day for these follow-ups OR, hire a staff to handle it for you.

The skills that you developed at your job will help you through owning your G-Business . Just think, you can get so much work done after the children go to bed, or before they get up. Women are better at time management than men are for a reason. Turn your talents into something that will benefit you, your family and your finances. All of this while you are able to be at home with your children, watching them grow each day and be an executive while still going to their Halloween parties and being a room mother at the same time.

Use your organization skills, (even if you think you do not have them) to develop your business or hire someone to coach you through this process. Those who don't have these types of skills won't have the drive it takes to think about beginning a G-Business so don't worry if you are considering this, you have these talents. They are G-Business just hidden a little deeper than you realize. Remember what you dislike to do the most is usually what you need to do the most!

Think about how much you shop on-line and why! You do it because it is easier with the children around, or it saves you expenses in gas and you get to avoid the long lines, negative attitudes and just for the shear convenience. Why shouldn't you take advantage of the opportunity for people to come to you to do their shopping?

Have a dream and follow-through. Use your resources, family, friends, neighbors, fellow business associates, former employers and co-workers to spread the word that you have started your own business and you plan to be a huge success. Take your talents and run like the wind, be who you deserve to be.
